First Reformer Pilates Class?

Starting Reformer Pilates for the first time can be exciting! Here are some tips to help you get the most out of your first class!

  1. Wear Comfortable Clothing: Choose clothes that allow you to move freely. Avoid overly loose clothing, as it might get in the way or be distracting.

  2. Arrive Early: We are nestled in the heart of Bridge Street, Port Melbourne. There is plenty of parking on Bridge Street, but it eliminates feeling flustered as you enter! Get to the studio a bit early (and get ready to climb some stairs as we are all the way at the top!) to check in, find your space, and get comfortable with the equipment.

  3. Communicate with the Instructor: Let one of our friendly instructors know it's your first class. They can offer modifications and ensure you're using the equipment correctly.

  4. Start Slow: Focus on learning the basics and getting the form right rather than pushing yourself too hard. Pilates is about precision and control.

  5. Listen to Your Body: Pay attention to how your body feels and don’t push through pain. Pilates should challenge you, but it shouldn’t be painful.

  6. Stay Hydrated: Drink water before and after the class to stay hydrated.

  7. Breathe: Pilates emphasizes breath control, so practice deep, controlled breathing throughout the class. It helps with movement and relaxation.

  8. Enjoy the Process: Keep a positive attitude and remember that mastering Pilates takes time. Each class will help you improve and become more comfortable with the exercises.
